Current Beauty Goals

Hello there!

I always get very inspired by these posts, not sure why but I accomplished all but 1 of my last 5 beauty goals so hopefully I can do as well this time!

1) 7 Day cleanse

Last Sunday I started a detox cleanse, a change in diet designed to rid your body of some of the harmful chemicals and toxins found in processed foods, something I normally eat plenty of. But after the holidays I decided this would help me spring into the new year with a healthier diet which is one of my 10 resolutions. The cravings are hard and the food isn't all that good but I'm adamant to stick through it and be a better me :)

2) Paint my nails more often

I have all of these new polishes and have touched them exactly once, so I'd like to get into the habit of painting my nails more often and get that nice manicured look without having to spend half an hour correcting my nails.

3) Find the ultimate acne solution

This was on my last goals post and I did accomplish it somewhat, it's greatly improved though still quite noticeable. I've been using the original Proactiv wash for the past month and just ordered their new solution Proactiv+ so here's to hoping it works!

4) Work on new hairstyles

My hair is the stubborn kind of curly, I've gotten some amount of control over it but I'm pretty limited in the number of things I can do with it. I'm hoping to find something new to do with it soon though I may have to log a couple hours in front of the bathroom mirror before I can do that :)

5) Start dressing nicer

It was one of my new year's resolutions and I'm really looking forward to doing it but I keep making up excuses not to do it. I need to start trying to actually fill this resolution (scary but I'm determined)

Somehow goals work really well for me, I'm ok at sticking to them and getting (at least some of) them done so here's to hoping I actually finish these ones and I hope you enjoyed!

Comment below: what are your goals at the moment? I'd love to hear!

Beauty Wishlist

Hello there!

I know, I know, it was just Christmas and I just got a ton of gifts but yes, I still have a wishlist. I'm not in any way ungrateful or anything but there are some products I've just fallen in love with and will continue to search for.

Black Skater Skirt

Aeropostale Bethany Mota collection- solid skater skirt in black- size xsmall- $24

One of my resolutions this year was to dress nicer, which I love doing, but I find matching my current skirts a bit difficult so I'm on the hunt for a good solid black skater skirt like the (sold out) one above at Aeropostale

Nars Tinted Moisturizer

Just used a sample of this and fell in love (review here) but hoping to splurge on a bottle of this beautiful product soon...

Benefit Gimme Brow

I've never done my brows but decided to start trying and I've heard this product is highly recommended, have you tried it? (If you have I would really appreciate a comment!)

Makeup Organizing Drawers

Office organizer = makeup organizer

While I love the bag I keep everything in now, I'd like to make it a bit more accessible and decided on the addition of some makeup drawers for my bathroom. I fell in love with this idea from Pinterest, I think it looks nicer and a bit more organized than normal plastic ones though my makeup collection is far different from the one pictured :)

This Floral Duvet Cover

I adore Zoe's room design in this picture and I love matching my room with the seasons, mostly for Christmas, but this year I want to brighten it up for Spring. And although it won't be here for a couple months I have to start early to track down a spare set of these Primark sheets sold last year that I'm dying for

Anyways, just thought I'd share some ideas out there about what I've got my eye on at the moment and collect my ideas, hope you enjoyed!

Review: Nars Tinted Moisturizer

Hello there!

As I was walking through Nordstrom the other day I noticed samples for one of the most sought after makeup products: the Nars Tinted Moisturizer, I've never tried it and always wondered what all the hype was about so I quickly guessed my color as I was running out the door. I got it in Groenland: a light medium with a neutral pink to peach undertone. I love when skin products make separate products for color and undertone as I find matching my undertone to be difficult at times.

After wearing it the other day I see why everyone loves this product so much. It feels very light on the skin and has a very creamy somewhat thick consistency. My color matched flawlessly and it blends easily and quickly something I greatly appreciate as it seems like I'm always on the go.

Without any other makeup

Just looking at my acne spots, the product covered as well as my full coverage foundation. However, it didn't cover my under-eye circles as much as I would've liked, something easily fixed with a touch of concealer but a good thing to keep in mind.

Absolutely terrible at taking selfies...

This product is definitely one of my new favorites and already on my wishlist though at the steep price of $42 per 1.9 oz, it may be awhile before I can get myself some.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed!

Have a Wonderful Day!

New Years Resolutions!!!

Hello there!

I really love New Years Resolutions because it makes me look back at what I've learned over the past year or so and really set new goals for myself to better my future, something I should probably do more often than the beginning of each year.

1) Dress nicer

I've been completely inspired by the Carrie Diaries and I don't "bum it" now, I dress average. But I really want to start dressing up more, skirts and other fancy things, I love doing it and it gains more respect. Important as I'm coming close to adulthood.

2) Redecorate my room more

Last year I sold every piece of furniture in my room and bought all new ones but there's not many personal things up so I'll definitely be adding more this year

3) Figure out life (well, more at least)

Guess every teenager wants to do this but every year I feel like I know so much more and I love the feeling, like I'm preparing myself for life ahead and it usually all comes in handy. I just hope to have the same feeling in this year to come although I have a premonition of confusion in 2014.

4) Focus on music

It's my shining light and everything that I am. I want to try and find as much happiness as possible in my life and music is my best place to find it.

5) Write more

Writing is my favorite thing in the world, I write on here and in personal journals and songs, notebooks are my staple. It's my absolute favorite form of expression and in the coming year I hope to do more writing and less Netflix.

6) Be myself more

I was pushed around so often in my younger years that I was convinced being myself was close to the worst thing possible. But it's actually one of the best things in the world and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

7) Eat cleaner

I know the most common resolution is to lose weight and mine was last year and now 10 lbs lighter I don't feel the need to do so anymore. However I've watched many go through sicknesses and I'm adamant to try and prevent any of my own. I want to be like the 95 year old man I saw this fall playing golf and going out without any assistance.

8) Travel more

Even if it's just into the city, I feel like I stick around my small town so much. Need to see more, experience more :)

9) Complain less

A large wast of time and a damper on life

10) Put myself out there

A year ago if someone told me to put myself out there I probably would have looked like this amazing cat. But this year I'm ready to try new fashion trends, eat scary foods, travel to unknown places, speak up more often. I just want to push myself out of my comfort zone as often as possible.

I'm honestly bursting with excitement at the unknown year to come. Things can only get better and I'm excited to try and actually do things for once. I may not stick to all 10 of these daring resolutions but I'm insistent on fulfilling at least half because I know that they will only bring happiness.

I also want to remember to try and reflect more this year and set goals like these as often as I remember to, maybe monthly? I think I work a lot harder when I have a goal/resolution in mind and life's just better when I do them more often.

Have a Wonderfully Fulfilling Day!

Review: Essie's Bikini So Teeny Nail Polish

Hello there!

I've recently fell in love with Essie and all of their beautiful polishes. I am absolutely horrible at painting my own nails so in the past I've always gone to a nail salon or not at all but I am determined to finally figure it out myself so I've gone of and bought 6 Essie polishes to start my collection and I started with Bikini So Teeny

This is a beautiful color that I've likened most to periwinkle with more blue than purple and very, very small pieces of glitter that create a subtle shine and sparkle.

Essie is probably my favorite brand because it goes on fairly easily and lasts awhile when used with good base and top coats. It did chip a few times while I had it on (which I did for a week) but it was really easy to paint over them without seeing any lines after.

I've used China Glaze and OPI before and Essie is thus far my absolute favorite!

My collection thus far

I'm excited to try all of these new colors, I LOVE ESSIE

Have a Wonderful Day!

Reflection on 2013/Photo Summary

Hello there!

Looking back at what has happened so far looks bleak and hopeless but I realize that I've learned so much from a not-so-great year.

First of all I've learned how to blog, well kind of. It's been an amazing experience and I'm so thankful for all the success I've found thus far. And I want to say a HUGE thank you because For the Love just reached 200 followers on Bloglovin which is small compared to some but honestly makes me really really happy and I'd like to thank every single person who's followed, read a post, left a comment, I appreciate it immensely.

I've learned a lot small things like how to do my hair better and loads about makeup (mostly due to blogging). How to be a better student and to be a kinder person. Realized how close I am to adulthood and how much I still have left to learn.

I've begun to find myself a lot more, no matter how cliche that sounds. I think caring less about what everyone else thinks has helped me figure out what interests me and figure out more about myself and the world in general. I've figured out more about my personality, my goals, my opinions, things that have taken others so much longer to find. However, in all of this I believe I've had very little impact on the world and done very little to do this in the future. I've wasted quite a bit of time and hope to avoid this in the promising year to come.

I realize I've changed a lot more than I have in years past and I think even if my experiences weren't that great and I would change it if I could, I can't let myself head down a path of regret. The energy wasted on regret will only take away from the focus needed to improve the future, which is all I care about now. I can only hope for better and work as hard as possible to make this a reality.

In all of this sadness I have still found a few moments of happiness and I think pictures can tell so much more than I could ever express in words...

"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light" -JK Rowling

I hope you've enjoyed my photo summary of all the good times in 2013!
Here's to a wonderful new year!

December Favorites!

Hello there!

Just want to say a big HAPPY NEW YEAR, the time zones are pretty lost on me so it's probably the 2nd in most parts so happy (late) new year... better late than never, right?

So even though I've been fairly absent over the past 2 weeks, I've still managed to find some new loves, enjoy!

Nail Color: Essie's Bikini So Teeny

I know it's not the typical Christmas color but I feel like red nail colors can clash with outfits so I tend to veer away from them. This color has matched nicely with everything I can find and it's a lot more interesting than a white or black.

Hair Product: Redken Curvaceous Ringlet - Anti Frizz Lotion

I was skeptical when my hair dresser recommended this but I've fallen in love. This cream defines my curls and reduces frizz so well. As long as I put it in a fishtail braid over night, I wake up with as close as I've ever gotten to perfect curls, even with all the bleach damage. This is a huge improvement over my last curl defining product.

Smell: Bath and Body Works Holiday Collection

They had so many sales this month!

So I've gotten the:
Vanilla Bean Noel Body Mist
Winter Candy Apple Body Mist
Cranberry Twinkle Body Cream
Merry Marshmallow Body Cream

All for about $18 which, if you've ever been to this store, you know is so little for 4 full sized products. Alone one normally costs $14, so I'm very proud of my sale skills here and they all smell like heaven!

Makeup: Natural Look

This month I don't know why but I've favored much less foundation and simple eyeliner (thin, unwinged). Occasionally leaving my house with simply concealer, maybe because of a bit more confidence from less acne. Who knows?

Fashion Trend: Infiniti Scarves

Me on the very right sporting one of my favorites last night

These have been on my wishlist for months and I've finally just gotten some for Christmas in red, tan, and black. I've been wearing them every chance I can get, they're such a nice addition to an outfit and very helpful in a climate that changes 30 degrees in a matter of hours.

Hair Look: Topknot

(My only picture I have is in the one with a scarf above but at that point my topknot had dropped into a fairly normal bun)

I'm a bit late to this trend but with my bangs and things I could never figure it out and I've finally just mastered it but it's a nice style for a day where my hair is really oily or very tangled.

Food: Pirouettes

In front of my impeccably clean room (cue sarcasm)

I buy at least 2 of these every Christmas time when they become available and this year was no exception,  I actually received them as a present. They're shaped like a straw with layers of thin wafers surrounding a creamy, vanilla filling. But they are my absolute favorites and I've eaten far too many this month.

Book: Mockingjay (Hunger Games Series #3)

I gave all of my Hunger Games books to my mom for Christmas so I wanted to quickly reread this wonderful book before they were gone. If you've never read the Hunger Games series, even if you're not a big reader, I highly reccommend them!

TV Show: The Carrie Diaries

They finally put the first half of the season on Netflix so although I've kept up with the new episodes for the past month, I now understand a lot more about the show and I am very, very inspired to start wearing more skirts and dresses on an everyday basis, Anna Sophia Robb makes it look easy!

Music:

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas by Michael Buble

Best Day of My Life by American Authors

I Do by Colbie Calliat

A Christmas song and 2 very upbeat feel good, can't help but smile songs for this months favorites...

Anyways, I hope you've enjoyed, my makeup favorites have been rather grim lately, I'll try to find more next month :)

Have a Wonderful Day!
