What I've Learned From Everyday Blogging

Hello there!

I am dreadfully sorry about my lack of posts since the 13th, I wanted to blog everyday this month but this was the absolute worst month to try this for me.

I had finals week from the 16th-20th and studied almost the entire weekend before and planned to continue blogging afterwards. Then I got a cold and then a flu on top of it which ended in absolute misery while sitting in class taking the most important tests of the semester. Not fun. And ever since then my days have been absolute chaos and although I realize I probably could have found nuggets of time to rush in some posts, I didn't so no excuses there.

However, I am back with a few posts already planned for January and although I only blogged everyday for a little over 2 weeks and I usually blog at least every other day I learned a few things in my short time that I thought I would share today :)

It's really hard

So I don't get to sit at home and do this as an everyday job, I get to go to school, come home, work on homework, do my chores, work out forever, then work on blogging. I  love doing it but trying to work on blogging for about 2 hours a day along with everything else in my life getting paid solely in the happiness readers give me is highly difficult. I do really enjoy doing it but trying to pair it with everything else in my life and having everyone else think I'm wasting my time is quite difficult.

To me, blogging is like my job and I know many people can make full time incomes after getting many readers however I make no income. I spend 2 hours or more on my laptop everyday with what others see as no purpose. But I enjoy it so I continue.

I have no idea what I'm doing

I'm very new to this world of blogging and I know it will get easier with time. It seems like the past few months (I started in August) have flown by and I've been enjoying it so much, I've learned a lot along the way but I still feel like the new kid on the block still trying to figure everything out behind all of these amazing people with beautiful blogs and incredibly creative and well done posts, one day...

I am not an everyday blogger

Despite my other reasons for discontinuing the month, I couldn't do it. I got all of my ideas out and ran out of ideas half way through the month, I feel like even if I had tried to finish this month out, I would've written some very sad posts that I rushed through that no one would really care about or enjoy, really. Something I hope never happens. I don't know how much creativity I have left for this blog but I know it's worth trying for and I hope everyone sticks around to read my not-so-daily blog

No closing today, I don't think this post needs one, unless this short paragraph of me explaining why there is no closing is in fact a closing in itself...

Have a Wonderful Day!

Things I Don't Understand About Blogging

Hello there!

So I've been investing a lot more time recently into my blogging and it's been really fun but I've come to find that with more understanding of the wonderful thing comes even more confusion and questions so here are some of the things I have yet to understand about the world of blogging... enjoy!

Google+ and Google Friend Connect

I have this little widget on the right of my blog but it doesn't look quite like other's does and I have no idea how to find theirs though I've searched through the list about a million times. And I really can't find Google Friend Connect and when I tried to use it on someone else's blog I was hopelessly lost. I feel like a huge amateur for admitting all of this confusion but I pretty much am ;)

The Amazing Photography

So I am not rich, I'm blogging from a 6 year old breaking down laptop and use my iPhone for any and all pictures, which can take pretty good ones but not DSLR quality. Then I go onto other blogs and they have these absolutely beautiful pictures taken with a stunning camera. A new Canon is 3rd on my wishlist (a new MacBook and Guitar precede it) but I probably won't be able to afford a camera for quite awhile. It kind of baffles me how so many have such beautiful pictures...

The Creativity

Thinking of new blog posts, unique ones (something other than OOTD, review, or tags) is a daily struggle for me. And actually finding ways to execute all of these posts is even harder. But everyday I see such amazing, unique and creative posts and ideas from so many amazing bloggers. It always baffles me how they do it :)

Graphic Design

I always see these absolutely amazing headers and beautiful collages and organized lists that I don't think I could ever recreate. Though I'm going to attempt a header sometime soon as I've just been recommended a site to try out for a header... wish me luck!

The Planning

This week I was rather ahead but then I ran out of ideas and now I'm writing this right as I should be posting this and I have absolutely no idea what pictures to post with this. While other bloggers will have the photography and editing done days ahead of posting time and it baffles me, it really does

Blogger

Apparently my blogger thinks I live in the UK, I don't know if this is the same for other American or non-British bloggers but my days start at 4 PM instead of midnight, so I'm generally posting at 4 AM according to Blogger but it's really around 8 PM and I clearly wrote that I live in the US but Blogger doesn't seem to understand.

Being such a new blogger there are about a million other things that I really don't understand but I feel like this is a sufficient list for one post. I hope this didn't sound offensive to anyone else, there are like a million (37140 overall and 2878 beauty) other blogs that are way better than mine and I'm just really baffled at their awesomeness :)

(and yes I realize I've said baffled a lot but it's just such a fun word!)

Comment below if you've had any of these confusions or anything you don't understand about this wonderful world of blogging!

Have A Wonderful Day!

Gift Guide For Teenage Girls

Hello there!

As we get closer and closer to the amazing day I'm getting ridiculously excited for Christmas and all it holds so today I thought I'd list out part of my Christmas wishlist and hope it helps any adults hopeless for what a normal teenage girl would want. But us teenage girls come in many different breeds so I'll be categorizing different presents to get for different types of girls

For the headphone-addicted

I personally don't mind getting gift cards at all, it shows some amount of care and doesn't leave the receiver with anything they dislike. Unless you know of a specific CD or set of headphones they definitely want, I would highly recommend an iTunes gift card which come in many different amounts. I've been the person who got a CD they didn't like and let's just say my mom listens to it more than I do.

For the comfy clothes girl

You cannot go wrong with a good pair of yoga pants, they're like socially acceptable sweatpants! My and most girls favorite brand for yoga pants is PINK, a side brand of Victoria's Secret, but don't worry, they're completely appropriate. These do run fairly expensive at $35 but if  someone bought me these and these alone I would be completely grateful. The top (inseam) comes in many different colors and designs so choose carefully :)

If you're looking for something a bit lower priced big sweatshirts are always nice, especially if you find one with something they like (such as Harry Potter) or even lower, there is nothing better than wearing extra fuzzy socks so can't go wrong with either of these.

For the beauty-obsessed

This one is a bit more difficult as every girl has very different beauty-related things they want, but I'm sure that applies to girls of all ages. This season I don't think anyone can go wrong with the highly anticipated Naked 3 Palette (aka PERFECTION), the receiver most likely doesn't have it yet and it's a palette that flatters almost any skin tone. Though it is rather high priced so onto the less expensive options...

Gift cards: Ulta is one of my favorites because the products are a lot more versatile, they have huge stores with hair, nail, makeup, etc products. There's also stores like Sephora and MAC

If you are one of the many who think gift cards are careless, it's a bit of hit and miss from here. If you've tried something and really, really enjoyed it but know that they haven't yet, that would probably be a good gift. I bet there are a million beauty products out there I would love that I've never even heard of.

I'M GETTING SO EXCITED FOR CHRISTMAS... sorry just needed to note that :)

Hope you enjoyed! Comment below what's at the top of your wishlist this year! :)

Have a Wonderfully Festive Day!

PS Sorry I forgot to upload this yesterday but there will be a second post later on today so that I can finish my month of blogging mission... :)

Nightly Routine! -Winter

Hello there!

So today I was going through my Youtube subscriptions since I am the only one awake this early which is pretty funny since I was also the last one to go to sleep... Anyways I was watching Bethany's nightly routine video and I was inspired! Here's my current routine!

Starting from when I get home:

So after a long day at school I will usually grab a snack and I tend to grab some fruit or cereal (my loves) or both!

Then I have about an hour before I leave for the gym so if I have any homework I'll get it done and if not I'll go on some sort of social media like Bloglovin, Pinterest, Twitter or Youtube. I know, I'm a really crazy teenager ;)

Having fun with Photography at the gym...
Delicious home cooked meal with some vlogs

After a good hour workout I'll come home and eat dinner which half of the time will be my parents cooking something and the other half I'll just grab a quick lean cuisine. Not that healthy but that's just my life :)

After dinner it's usually around 7 o clock and I start working on musical things, I'll play guitar for awhile, work on songs and look for new songs to either try to play or try to rewrite as I find this very interesting

I shower at 9 pm almost every night. Mostly because it's quieter than than playing guitar but loud enough to wake everyone up, which I try not to do. Before showering I usually take out my contacts and wipe away all of my eye makeup to avoid the skunk eyes.

Unless I've just straightened my hair, I almost always wash it since I work out once or twice a day which gets my hair all sweaty. I use the TRESemme split end treatment shampoo and conditioner, brush my hair in the shower, shave, wash with Tone's sugar exfoliating scrub, and wash my face with Proactiv facial cleanser.

Post shower is the most fun part. I moisturize the ends of my hair with Carol's Daughters leave in moisturizer, then put 2 products in my hair: one for curl definition (Paul Mitchell's Curl Defining Styling Gel) and one to tone down the frizz my hair so loves (L'Oreal Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight Creme)

Then I brush, floss, and wash out my teeth because they are far from white, I use Crest for them all as it's what my dentist recommends. I then use Proactiv's toner and repairing treatment along with the night cream which smells amazing

I then put my hair into a long fishtail braid as that's what gets my curls looking the best. If my skin is feeling dry (as it is now) I'll use Bath and Body Works Merry Marshmallow body cream, again smells amazing! And I can finally walk out of the bathroom...

Can't work without my cats!

By then it's about 10 pm and everyone else is asleep. I usually start to write and take pictures and edit until I've done some amount of work and go on social media and basically just be an internet kid... I have severe insomnia so I'll stay up until at least midnight sometimes up to 3 am and do random things I find to do in the middle of the night until I'm actually tired enough to go to sleep

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post, I know it was somewhat life-y again but I tried to focus on the beauty part of my night the most.

What's your nightly routine? Leave me a comment below, I'd love to read!

Have A Wonderful Day!

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Hello there!

So I realized this weekend on my last shopping trip that i am a shopaholic, it's sad but true. Here are the 5 signs that led to my self-diagnosis

1) A majority of my emails are from companies

Screenshotted email from forever ago and a sweater I really wish AE still made

My phone never shuts up, I wake up with over 10 emails and over half of them are always from a company telling me about some new collection, sale, or coupon they're giving me that I always keep in my inbox until it's expiration date.

2) My heartbeat increases with a sale

Bogo is like my tagline and % off makes me walk faster. In Bath and Body Works the other day, I couldn't just buy 2 things like I'd intended, there was a buy 3, get 3 free sale so of course I had to go all over the store to get all 6 items which made me so excited, the idea of a sale is just really exciting. Even today in Target I couldn't get the small goldfish and Swedish fish, the large ones were on sale and now I'm sitting here up to my ears in food, but it's goldfish and Swedish fish so I don't really mind :)

3) Shopping usually sounds like the most fun thing to do

My mom asked me what I wanted to do the other day and all I could think of was wanting to go shopping. I could just run to Ulta and grab a bunch of beauty supplies, drive down to the mall and expand my wardrobe, stop in Yankee Candle to make my life smell beautiful. The possibilities are endless

4) Window shopping is painful

I hate doing it, it's really just saddening. I just wants things. That sounds so terrible and materialistic but I really enjoy getting things, especially for others. The things are just calling my name. I see something and I suddenly just need to redecorate my room or randomly give a gift to a friend but I just really want that thing

5) I could tell you the entire layout of several malls

I've been to several malls SO MANY TIMES that I could tell you the entire layout, every store. I feel like that's a lot of wasted brain space but the memorization was inevitable. I've been there so very often that I couldn't help but memorize the entire layout. I know at least 5 all the way and about half of 3 more. I don't choose to but I blame it on being a shopaholic and going to the mall too much. Maybe that should be my new year resolution: going to the mall less, I feel like that is a very amicable goal... :)

So thanks for reading through my mini confession and reasoning behind it.
I am a shopaholic

Hope you enjoyed! Comment below with your favorite thing to shop for!

Mini Haul- Mall trip

Hello there!

So I've just returned from the mall on a mini-Christmas shopping trip on which I got a few presents for my mom and a couple things for myself so I thought I'd share my mini haul with you all.

See's Candies

This was the first place I saw and of course I cannot pass one of these without stopping inside and I saw this amazing set pre-wrapped of the flavored chocolates (one of my mom's favorites) so I bought her a huge box of them for only $5! They were on sale and I'm impressed with this price.
(the red and gold wrapped gift above)

Yankee Candle

How can you go to a mall with a Yankee Candle and not stop inside? My mom used to burn candles all the time when I was younger and she's the one who led me to fall in love with them. So I found the perfect, yet affordable gift for her. Here's a mini candle holder with adorable snow, pine cone, and tree paintings on it. It only cost $8 and the sample candles you put inside, which I bought 3 of (2 of Christmas Cookie, 1 Palm Tree), were $2 so it wasn't bad at all and although the small candles will burn quickly I can always go back and keep buying new different scents for her.

Aeropostale

This was one of my favorite stores in middle school and I stopped liking it for awhile but they've really stepped up their game and with the new Bethany Mota collection, I know the store will be improving :) I found a simple, yet adorable sweatshirt for only $10 so I grabbed that for myself

Bath and Body Works

I probably spent the most time in here. First of all it's Christmas time so they have the amazing Christmas scents which I love and second,  they were having a buy 3, get 3 free day, so I went a little crazy and bought 6 amazing products. I also had a $10 coupon so overall I got 6 bath and body works products for $28 dollars, life. was. crazy.

I got:
Fresh Sparkling Snow Hand Soap
Merry Marshmallow Body Cream
Winter Candy Apple Body Mist
all for myself

and I got the

Lavender Vanilla sleep Pillow Mist
Vanilla Bean Noel Body Lotion
and Cranberry Twinkle Body Lotion
all for my mom as she loves lotion

I'm so so excited for Christmas so I can give everybody their gifts and see how they like them, I love shopping and shopping for myself is fun but getting to shop for others is so much harder and makes it so much more fun and exciting.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this smallish haul. Comment below what you enjoy more: buying and giving gifts or receiving them?

Have a Wonderfully Festive Day!

PS Thank you to the wonderful cashier at Bath and Body Works who gave me the extra $10 coupon, I really appreciated it :)

101 Things Update

Hello there!

1 months ago yesterday I wrote this list of 101 things I wanted to do. They range from trying new beauty products to trying something that terrifies me. I've gotten a few of them done and since I always write a lifestyle post on Sundays I thought I would update you on how much I've thus far done.

#9. Straighten my hair for a week

I'm very lazy about doing this but I love the way it looks and with my wonderful straightener, it only takes about 40 minutes even with my huge mane

#13. Buy more body sprays

I've been putting off a Bath and Body Works trip for quite awhile as it's so expensive but I finally got to one and got some amazing sales and bought some Christmas presents while I was there, really good trip. But I really wanted a new body spray and got the gigantic Winter Candy Apple one while I was there.

#23. Decorate my room for winter

Got my icicle Christmas lights hanging and my room is sparkling red, the lights are the most difficult so therefore the most fun to photograph and I have no intention of taking them down after Christmas. What's funny is I've just got the Christmas theme up and I'm already thinking of what to do for spring

#34. Reach 100 followers on Bloglovin

This made me so happy I did an entire post to thank you all which you can find here. I'll be doing a thank you giveaway soon which I actually started on today :)

#52. Start Winter baking

I baked some pumpkin bread the other day but I'm also trying to stay really healthy at the moment so my winter baking is far more sparse than usual

#77. Apply to UC-Berkeley

I looked at the stupid essays for 3 weeks and finally got the guts to submit what I had written, I really hope admissions likes me! I had safety schools of course but Berkeley is supposedly one of the best and my absolute top school.

#95. Go a week without Netflix

This one wasn't hard after finishing my last series which I did this last week, as long as I don't go on and find a new addicting series staying away from it isn't a problem. I just go on Youtube when I want to relax or watch a movie on TV, far less addicting

#97. Try a new sport

I finished this one right after I wrote these. My sister taught me a bit of tennis and an instructor was very impressed with me for a beginner so that was exciting. I haven't played it since but I found it to be really fun, good exercise, and I would love to play it again :)

Tried to keep these short as I know this is supposed to be a beauty blog but I hope you enjoyed my short lifestyle bit anyways... I've only accomplished 8 so far so here's to attempting for 10 in the next month-ish. I've really enjoyed this 101 things list as it's pushed me to try new things and get more done. I've definitely noticed a decreased amount of boredom this month so that's pretty exciting :)

Comment below something exciting/good you've done lately that's made you happy, I'd love to read!

Review: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

Hello there!

So I have about 20 minutes to write a post before I break my month long "everyday blogging" challenge, this should be interesting.

Today I thought I'd love to do another review as most seem to enjoy those posts the most as I know I really do and I'll be reviewing something I've heard loads about from other bloggers: the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer which I have in the original clear shade.

This was honestly my first primer and I've loved it loads. It says it's for perfect skin so nothing specific just a nice primer and it works perfectly. I've never had any problem with it and would definitely recommend it. When first feeling it, it would seem to make my face oily or bunch up as it's very thick but it doesn't do either, blending into my face really well, I can't even tell it's only when it is alone.

When I tried to put it over concealer, the concealer left all of the spots I had intentionally put it and blending into the rest of my face which I understand why it would do so but it wasn't very helpful so I would definitely recommend putting it on right after moisturizer.

When I tried using my foundation without any of this beautiful product, I did notice that it faded much quicker so this very much worked up to it's long lasting promise, I use it everyday I wear makeup.

I have a lot of red at the moment so I might consider going for the green shade that is specifically designed to counteract the red shades

However, I don't think I'll be needing that anytime soon as the one I have ($36 for 1oz) is no where near running out which it better not be after I paid so much for so little. I use about a drop everyday and it spreads evenly over my entire face so it will last a long while, which I love, but that price will always seem high to me.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this short review, I might have been a bit more knowledgeable if I had ever tried another primer but having such a good one at first I never felt the need to. Also sorry about the rushed post, I have several others that I've started today but I wanted to work far more on the photography than I had the time for but they will all be here soon :)

Have A Wonderful Day!

Current Beauty Goals

Hello there!

So every once in awhile I get stuck in a routine and forget to work to do anything new beauty wise and I believe I'm at that point right about now so I decided to write down some goals to change up my life a bit (which I love doing) and see where it takes me, enjoy!

Go blonder

I have a hair appointment on the 21st of December and I'll most likely be showing my amazing stylist this picture of Zoe as I'm in love with her current ombre hair. I know usually people go darker for colder weather but at this point I don't even care.

Wear more nail polish!

My stylist works through Ulta (beauty store with makeup, high and low end, hair products, literally everything) so while I'm there I'll most likely be shopping through the essie nail polish section for some new polish to try as I'm frightfully boring with my nails and they are bare 95% of the time.

Finally clear up my skin, work in progress

Now that I've started using a better face wash, my skin is finally healing after all of the torture it's been through so with some patience (extremely difficult for me), I think I'll finally get the whole acne thing over with. But I can buy the new, improved version of my current wonderful facewash so I'll definitely be doing that soon.

Wear red lipstick

I haven't been shopping in what feels like forever but I'm going on Saturday so hopefully I'll finally get a dark lipstick to wear out, something I've never done before.

Clean out my bathroom

My cabinet is getting a bit crowded with all of my beauty products so I think it's time for a clean out, hopefully for new products ;) I have a couple I've never worn before (some highend), so I'll also be able to start picking out some products to use in the giveaway... ;)

Commenting more on other's blog posts

I've done it a few times and I love talking to other bloggers and getting more involved in the beauty blogging community. So I'll now try to comment as much as I possibly can :)

Being a better blogger myself

I try hard to bring the best possible content and I only hope that the over 100 followers I have (I love saying that :) actually enjoy my posts. I've heard favorites and reviews are both good so I'll be trying to incorporate more reviews into my posts and will continue doing favorites at least once a month. If you have any advice, feel free to let me know!

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my post and hope I can actually accomplish my goals here.

What are your current beauty goals? Tell me in the comments below I'd love to read

Have a Wonderfully Accomplished Day!
