Review: Proactiv

Hello there!

So I've had this terrible acne problem for months now and I've tried a ton of different face washes that would occasionally work but never fully got rid of the problem. I tried Proactiv a few years back when I had 1 little pimple and didn't like it very much. But after too many failed attempts I have finally gone back.

I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and it's worked better than anything I've tried before, but I still have about 1/3 of my original acne and a bunch of dry skin even though I've used the repairing treatment, isn't combination skin just lovely?

The cleanser, step 1, is amazing, it has the same small sand-like pieces you would normally find in a good scrub. If I'm in a rush I'll use this alone and my skin still feels nice and clean without the extra steps.
The toner, step 2, is good, I've always used toner though they weren't Proactiv and this works about the same, exfoliating and cleaning a bit deeper into pores.
The repairing treatment, step 3, hasn't done much for me, I've got a lot more dead skin than I'd like even after my normal moisturizing routine, a little disappointing.

However, though the product isn't perfect, it has worked a lot better than anything I've found before. Proactiv also just came out with a new, improved formula called Proactiv+ that supposedly works even better and is more effective than the original formula which I've just ordered today so I'm rather excited to see how the new system works.
Anyways, I hope this review helped someone somewhere though I know most don't have as bad of acne as I. Comment below with your favorite skin products, I'd love to read and maybe try some out!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Being Thankful

Hello there!

So I know America is the only place that celebrates Thanksgiving but I would still like to write a quick post on what I'm thankful for while were in the spirit of things...

I'm really thankful for my amazing family, they're crazy sometimes but they're mine and I wouldn't trade everyone I have for the world

I'm also thankful for my friends, I've moved so incredibly often that I don't have many so to the few that have stuck around and accepted me, I'm incredibly thankful

But I'm really grateful for a lot of the little things, I have two amazing cats who are there for me when I'm feeling blue. I'm thankful for the cashier at Ralph's who told me I was beautiful even when I didn't think I was. I'm thankful for the guy in the street who told me to never give up on playing my guitar, to all of my teachers, for the blessings I have in life and to anyone else who has ever given me a break in this scary life thing. I have so much to be thankful for and I hope I can continue to be grateful year round even when times get rough...

I'm really really thankful I've been able to blog these past few months and that some people have actually been reading them, it means so much to me and you guys make me smile so very often, THANK YOU!!!

Anyways, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving or wonderful Thursday/Friday, wherever you happen to live :)

Comment below with what you're thankful for, I'd love to read!

Have a Wonderful Day!

The Christmas Tag!!!

Hello there!

So I get really excited about Christmas... maybe a little too much but today I was particularly thinking about it a lot and decided to do The Christmas Tag, which I found over on Amy's post at notanotheramy which you can find here. EXCITEMENT!!!

1. What is your favorite Christmas song?

I'm currently listening to Cody Simpson's acoustic cover of Please Come Home For Christmas which was most popular from the Eagles a while back, he does it really beautifully, may be my new favorite :)

2. Which is your favorite festive drink?

I'm a HUGE Starbucks fan and I am currently loving the Peppermint Mochas, mostly because there is a skinny version but I'm also a fan of their pumpkin spice, caramel brulee, and gingerbread lattes and a good hot chocolate makes me feel so cozy, just thinking about it makes me happy

3. Do you have a favorite Christmas film?

Being the hopeless romantic that I am, it would have to be Love, Actually, which I will watch any time of year

4. What is at the top of your Christmas wish-list this year?

On the expensive side is a new guitar or new MacBook... though I'd be happy with new music or clothes

5. What is your favorite festive makeup or nail art look?

Around this time I start loving darker lipsticks though I never dare them in the other seasons

6. What is your favorite outfit at Christmas time?

I love sweaters/jumpers so much, I have so, so many, I'm working on expanding my Christmas collection as I only have a reindeer one at the moment but soon!

7. Would you rather play out in the snow or enjoy it from inside with the fire and a cuppa?

I'm a very outdoorsy kid so although a warm fire sounds amazing, I'm always the first to go run out in snow, though I only get to see it when I go back up North in the colder areas

8. Wrapping presents- love or loathe?

Love, like a lot, I'm almost a competitive wrapper, even though they get ripped apart I always feel like they have to look perfect and mine are always wrapped better than everyone else... always

9. What is your favorite Christmassy food?
(I think it's really funny that Blogger accepts Christmassy as a correctly spelled word)

I love sugary things so my favorites are always the Peppermint bark and Gingerbread cookies, deliciousness!

10. What is your favorite thing about Christmas?

I think I will always love the Christmas spirit, even though the moms can get pretty tough in Toy's R Us for the most popular toys, most people get in this kind, caring Christmassy spirit that I greatly appreciate

(now that I know Christmassy is a word, it'll probably be in every single one of my posts)
Anyways, those are some of my favorites about Christmas though I have so many more... I'M BURSTING WITH EXCITEMENT

So I tag absolutely everybody to do this wonderfully amazing tag and spread around as much Christmas spirit as we can! Comment below if you do the tag so I can read it or just leave some of your favorite things about Christmas!

Have a Wonderfully Festive Day!

Review: Kat Von D Blushes

Hello there!

Today I'm doing another review of my humongous Sephora haul from forever ago which you can find here. I decided to review the 2 blushes I got from the Kat Von D collection.

Left: Por Vida, Right: Wish

Left: Wish, Right: Por Vida

The first one I got was in the shade Por Vida. This shade is described as a "warm pink", which I agree with, and I always find this color nicer in the colder months. The powder is very pigmented but blends nice with my warmer skin tone and looks very natural which I love. This shade has no shimmer to it which I know many love so that is up to personal preference but I would definitely recommend it.

The second blush I bought was in the shade Wish and this one was quite different. I was told it was a bronzer in Sephora but it's listed as a blush on the site and described as a "nude peach with subtle shimmer" which I agree with. It is almost impossible to see on the swatch even after I used several layers but when I apply it as a bronzer it does make a slight difference though I don't think I'll repurchase, probably go for a darker, more pigmented color, though the quality on these is amazing.

Anyways, I hope that helped someone on their blush quest. What are your favorite blushes? I'd love to know in the comments below!

Have a Wonderful Day!

My Week In Pictures

Hello there!

So I see these posts all of the time and always think they look so amazing, I thought I'd try one this beautiful Sunday. Last time I posted a bunch of life photos I edited them a lot so this time around I thought I'd just show the originals :)

Most of my weeks consist of constant petting and they are perfect sources of photography

Saturday morning, my mom and I headed down to a show taping

However, they were full(I was bummed) so we headed to Rodeo Drive to explore for awhile

And after a good coffee, always a good mood-lifter, we decided to go to Disneyland

All beautifully decorated for Christmas!

Wednesday Wishlist- Christmas Decorating

Hello there!

This year I wanted to decorate my own bedroom all Christmasy and I probably will this weekend since I start break on Friday :)

But I have started online shopping for some of the things I want to decorate my room with reasonable prices in mind so here's my list so far!

1. The Tree

3' Pre-Lit Alberta Spruce Christmas Tree

I knew 3 feet (little under a meter) would be nice for my small bedroom corner and I had to get an artificial, I think the smallness of the tree would make it hard to light myself so the pre-lit is nice as well, especially for so cheap

2. The Lights

Warm White Faceted/Smooth LED String Christmas Lights

I love the look of Christmas lights though I can't decide between a normal string or some icicle style (where they hang down like above), I'll probably keep them hung year round as well
Does anyone know the difference in appearance of faceted vs. smooth Christmas lights?

3. The Ornaments

50-piece 70mm Ornament Set

I'm hanging some on my tree (with candy canes of course) and on my walls like Beth Mota did in her video (bottom picture). I decided on red and gold because they are 2 of my favorite colors and this set specifically because 50 for this price is nice and I loved the variety in it, there's matte, shiny, and glittery ornaments of both colors

Now onto the details...

I feel like the first 3 cover the good basics but there's a few other crafts and small décor I'd like to get to really bring the room to life.

Beth's Box Craft

Shadow Box Frame: Walmart $8
Christmas Decorative  paper: Target $3
Paint: Michaels $2
Jingle Bells and things inside: Michaels

Then I'd like to hang some ornaments, snowflakes, wreathes, bows and anything else I can find on my Michaels/Target/Walmart hunt this weekend

Other than that I think it will really be a lot of finding and thinking about what I could possibly do because I cannot seem to find much else online but I know it's out there... wish me luck!
Stay tuned for the post when I actually tell you about decorating, I'm just so excited I had to share my plans today!

What are you doing for Christmas decorations? Tell me in the comments below!

Style Inspiration: Zoe Sugg

Hello there!

Just wanted to do a nice, short post today about one of my all time biggest inspirations, especially for anything style or beauty related, but she's kind of just awesome in general. And this would be the wonderful Zoe Sugg, she's a very famous Youtuber (and blogger) who does an equal amount of beauty and life related videos, kind of like me with posts. But I don't know if my blog could ever live up to her awesomeness. She has a blog too which you can find here but she only posts on it every few weeks.

She's absolutely beautiful and she's not afraid to make funny faces or be silly, which I absolutely love

She pulls off every look she tries, like wearing red lipstick on a completely normal day and I think that is incredible and a bit captivating

A lot of London styles look rather odd to an American like me but I still love everything she wears, I wish so badly I could have that extensive of a wardrobe

Again so beautiful, eyebrow game > anything. And I really, really like this shirt for some reason

And her videos are actual perfection, she's inspired so many of my purchases and has helped me so much in my teenage beauty endeavors

I feel like this sounds like a sales pitch but she's such a great inspiration to me, I've watched a majority of her videos and read almost her entire blog, she inspired me to start blogging and I will forever be grateful. I only wish I could meet her... one day!

Anyways, does anyone else know/love Zoe? Who are your style inspirations? Leave your answers in the comments below, I'd love to read!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Review: Kat Von D lock-it tattoo foundation

Hello there!

Awhile back I posted about a Sephora haul I had went on and I'm finally going to get around to posting some reviews of what I bought. So I'm going to start off today with my liquid foundation which is the Kat Con D lock-it tattoo foundation in the shade Medium 52.

I was skeptical to buy such a new brand but the CMA at Sephora absolutely insisted and she was so right. This foundation has layering covering that even on my worst days makes my severe acne into short, normally colored bumps. If blended correctly, you can't tell that I'm even wearing foundation as it goes on perfectly smooth and won't leave any extra makeup clumps behind.

The material of the foundation is way thicker than I expected, the type that I can turn upside down and it will stay perfectly still, weird but has turned out to be good because there are fewer spills on my part however it can be a bit more difficult to blend in and harder to take off my makeup brush, though oddly not my face.

An added bonus, the bottle is really nice and pretty and it comes with this really convenient pump to get out exactly how much foundation you need. Although this has caused a bit of a mess in my makeup bag, I'm pretty sure it came with a cap that I may or may not have accidentally thrown away...

And one last thing, I bought this over 2 months ago and I still have about 3/4 of the bottle left, I wear makeup I would say 95% of my days and I have lots of acne to cover up so I consider this a very nice quantity even though it costs $35. They have about 17 shades to choose from with all of the different shades and undertones listed which I rather enjoyed.

Overall, I think this was worth the steep-ish price and if my dreadful acne continues, I will happily buy it again. I would gladly recommend the product for it's quality although I don't think it would be that necessary for people who don't have much to cover up.

Anyways, I hope that review was beneficial to someone out there. Have you tried the Kat Von D products, what did you think? Have any suggestions for different liquid foundations to try? I would gladly read any comments left below

Have a Wonderfully Beautiful Day!

Optimism

Hello there!

So I've had a bit of a unique week but I still wanted to post today. Even though I ended Inspirational Sundays a few weeks back, I still think Sundays are a good day to talk about deep life-related things so today I wanted to talk about being an optimist. Everything I say in this post may not be true for every optimist as I don't know too many who have as positive views as I but I think they cover the general bits.

I know many pessimists and realists who think I'm completely and utterly insane for thinking like this but I don't know any other way to go about my life because without my optimistic views, I start to lose hope in everything. I think I would just get extremely depressed and count down the days left in life, which I hate doing.

The easiest way to depress me or most other optimists is to bring up death. Mostly because being an optimist I look forward to the future and accomplishments that could be made and good times that could be had. But death isn't anything good to look forward to and thinking about it reminds me that I could die any second and that is probably the most depressing thing in life. I could lose everything and cease to exist, I am honestly terrified of death and I'm not ashamed of that, I think it's perfectly rational, but it is a large weakness because I am capable of depressing myself with a single thought.

Oh how I love Doctor Who

One thing I hate (something I believe has to do with optimism) is people breaking promises. For me, at least, it leaves me to grow distrust and lose hope in them and the state of the world. I realize how dramatic that sounds but I've had it happen to me so often and I build up all of this hope in something somebody says, something they promise, and I get devastated when that hope is shattered.

I guess that's why others think I'm naïve and my views almost stupid. Because I'm willing to dream and hope and see the absolute best in people and I get so devastated when the world proves me wrong. But for me, I can't help but do it. I feel like all of that hope and those dreams are what keep me determined and they allow me to stay happy, even if an occasional depression follows.

I stay happy most of the time, I can't even help it. I know so many who go about their life in the most boring of states but I choose to stay this way and let myself down because most of the time I find so much enjoyment in life and only hope to brighten the lives of others.

I've only now noticed how much of a rant I went off on! Hope I didn't bore anyone! I'll be back with a beauty post tomorrow but thought that a deeper post would be nice for a change.

Anyways, Got any thoughts on this whole optimism thing? Are you an optimist, pessimist, realist, etc? Leave your answers in the comments below!

Have a Wonderfully Bright Day!

Winged eyeliner, I wear it everyday but I haven't tried dark lips yet so not completely sure

5. Best fragrance for Fall/Autumn?

I really like Wonderstruck Enchanted (one of Taylor Swift's scents), it has a flowery and sweet smell that reminds me of my fall baking obsessions

Current Christmas Troubles

Hello there!

So yesterday was the official 6 week mark until Christmas which means that I start preparing like a madwoman. I really love Christmas and I try to make everything as festive and wonderful as possible but to do this there are always so many things to do and, with me at least, with things come challenges so here are my current Christmas troubles:

1. Flying home
I'm pretty proud of this picture

I grew up in a state called Washington. It has beautiful forests and wonderful snow and we even started Starbucks!!! But even though I no longer live there it's where I grew up and where most of my family and friends are so I'd like to go back for this wonderful winter season. I am going up in February with my mom but I can't help but want to see them during the wonderful day of Christmas. However it may not be an option, financially, at the moment, which saddens me greatly. But I'm going to do everything in my power to make it happen, wish me luck! :)

2. Christmas Decorating

After watching MacBarbie07's (AKA Beth Mota's) Winter Decorating Video on Youtube I am inspired to officially start my decorating but where to start? How can I declutter my room? What exactly should I buy? When should I buy it? What projects do I want to take on? Am I procrastinating my college entrance essays? The world may never know...

3. Christmas Outfits
I know terrible quality, sorry!

So far I only have one Christmas sweater. ONE. Can you believe it? It is pretty adorable but I need more and I still haven't found my perfect Christmas dress, granted I have a little under 6 weeks to find it, I still worry. I have all of the ideas but lack an unlimited bank account, pretty sad from my point of view. ;)

4. Christmas Nails

I need to start reflecting my Christmas love in my nails but what colors should I rock? There's the classic red but then there's glittery red and maroon. Then there's the glitter effect that looks like snow and the crazy wonderful designs everyone's getting into like I can barely paint my nails to begin with!

5... the gifts

Throwback Thursday!

I'm pretty sure this causes me the most stress around Christmas because I like to buy everyone in my life some sort of gift and I feel like it's really difficult to do that because I always want to find things that people will love and want to use but I don't know what that is... catch my drift? So yeah I constantly think about it in the weeks leading up to Christmas and work hard to make sure they're all perfect and NOBODY sees their gifts, and it's a struggle but so wonderfully rewarding in the end :)

So that's all my Christmas struggles, I wasn't trying to complain, think it's mostly just me trying to talk about Christmas without actually bringing up Christmas because if I do I'll write a lot about HOW INCREDIBLY EXCITED I AM and will probably be judged but yeah.

Have you started preparing for Christmas yet? Do you think it's too early? Let me know in the comments below

Have a Wondefully Festive Day!
